Making Music in Our Community
The Nacogdoches Music Teachers Association is an organization of professional music teachers serving Nacogdoches, Lufkin, and the surrounding East Texas communities.
NACOGDOCHES MTA EVENTS
The Nacogdoches Music Teachers Association holds events throughout the year to give students opportunities to perform and grow into lifetime lovers of music. Festivals allow students to get constructive feedback from a qualified adjudicator. We also host the TMTA Theory and World of Music Tests for students to develop into well-rounded musicians.
FALL FESTIVAL
November 15-16, 2019
Students perform for a piece for a judge and receive a certificate of participation along with a written evaluation with constructive criticism and a rating of Superior, Excellent, or Good. The theme for this year's Fall Festival is music related to or inspired by Nature.
TEACHERS CHOICE RECITAL
November 10, 2018
Teachers choose students (usually about 10-minutes total performance time per teacher) to perform in the Teachers' Choice Recital. The recital will take place at 4:00 pm Saturday November 16 at The Grace Covenant Church located at 340 N. E. Stallings Drive in Nacogdoches, Texas.
